|
|
Hello all,
I have XP pro,NAV2003 has been doing fine untill tonight when I tried to open it up and do a live update.I clicked on it and got windows cannot access the specified device, path,or file. You may not have permission to access the item. C:\Program files\common files\symantec shared\NMain.exe. I logged off and rebooted and signed back in as administrator. NAV is working properly but I need to run live update.I havent had any trouble with it until tonight. Any ideas?
thanks
Alan

If you, in explorer, go to C:\Program files\common files\symantec shared\NMain.exe can you double click on it?

Okay,I'm still unable to access the NAV on the task bar.I can go to live updates in control panel and make changes there but that doesn't get me to the download interface. I need to update manually so I need to access the interface.I do have admin rights and have rebooted,NAV loads properly and leaves the icon in task tray, says auto protect is enabled but I cant click on it to bring out the interface with out the error that I may not have the permission to access the program. Any hints?

This is what windows is showing...( windows cannot access the specified device, path,or file. You may not have permission to access the item. C:\Program files\common files\symantec shared\NMain.exe. ). I am logged in with admin. rights.

This link looks promising,..http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/3353489cd5cd08c388256c0e005a96e4/9ae9fc5005c8e6b988256878006b9444?OpenDocument&src=bar_sch_nam
I am at work now,I'll check it when I get home. The computer in question is my home machine, and I am the administrator and I am logged on as such and it wont let me access the NAV 2003 interface. When I click on the icon it tells me that I may not have permission to access the program. I was logged on as administrator when I installed the program a couple of months ago and it has been working fine untill the other night when it wouldn't let me access to update the program.
