|
|
Hi
I recently updated one pc to Nortons 2006. Now, if I try a live update over the wireless network, it hangs.
If I use a dialup connection, there is no problem.
I have uninstalled everything and reinstalled, played with proxy settings etc and still no go.

can you otherwise browse (download etc) the net through your wireless connection?
Is there a error message when LU fails? Do you have firewall that might be blocking LU?

Hello Cudni
Everything else works 100%, both within Norton and other programs. The problem only occurs with LU on Wireless. LU on dialup is fine.
There is no error message, it just seems to be waiting for something for ever. It does not time out.
I wonder if it uses a strange port that needs to be opened up through the router?

Hi marke
Greetings!!!
This is the problem due to dial up connection. When you try using the wireless network it hang while getting the updates. So please check you have dialup entries under Internet Explorer.
Click Tools and Choose Internet Options. Click on the Connections tab.
Under the dialup and virtual private network settings you will see any entry. If that is your dialup connection settings make that one to temporarily Never dial a connection(please check the below attachement). Please do not remove that entry because it may cause problem when you use dialup connection.
Regards
Peter

Hello Peter
If I disable the dialup, it hangs. If I enable the dialup it works using dialup. It just seems to be waiting for a response via the wireless network and that response never comes.

Thanks HD, works a treat.
I was concerned that LU might update itself back to 3, but it didn't so problem solved.
Settings exactly as before, so it is a problem with version 3.
Thanks again,
Best regards,
Mark. _________________ Marke
