one that will not lose all the passwords like firefox when firefox acts up?
or maybe one that keeps all the passwords and logins to sites,
and just has one master password to get it to work?

.......those apps look interesting,
......but the discussion sure stopped and dropped off fast?
......doesn't anyone have any personal input about their own experience ......using them or others.
......the idea of loading into a usb drive memory stick, etc.
......that's a great function, i would think.
......that would make it so you could go anywhere and still have all you ......need with you.
......by following the work of computer cops i have learned a lot about the ......security of my machine.
......and about all the free applications available too.
......so for me free is a plus,
......if i can find a good one for free i would love that.

I think the discussion dropped off as suitable applications had been identified for both PC and PDA use, and there has been no further input from the original poster. It is assumed that the apps mentioned have done the job.
Personally, I use a password-protected Excel spreadsheet saved under an obscure name. I save unames and passwords, along with connection details, signup dates and any other info I may need. This is on a system used only by myself, and I don't tend to access secure sites from other locations.
I would guess that your circumstances require something a little more user friendly and more secure. Hopefully someone will stop by here with a personal recommendation. _________________ Never stop learning

trying roboform but it is limited to 10 passwords.
some kid sent me a rar file with a bootleg license activation in it to make the fre version open up,
but i'm not part of that culture.
so i don't bother even attempting it.
something like roboform is ok,
it doesn't need to do all that roboform does.
just save passwords.
no auto completing forms.

It's always a good idea to back up your Firefox profile:

It is a shame that the OP has ceased reading this thread as I feel there may have been some discussion on the wisdom of keeping a complete set of passwords on a removable drive.
It would seem that members of CC have little experience in using free password managers, and the suggestions offered are apparently unsuitable. Hopefully Roboform will satisfy flehunting's requirements. _________________ Never stop learning

People are often unwilling to share their experiences about software unless their experiences have been very positive or very negative. Password managers just don't seem to arouse users' passions in the same manner that say, browsers do. Perhaps it's because password managers are fairly simple in their functionality and lack serious customization potential. I personally have not felt a burning desire to try others than the two I mentioned in the thread you provided the link for.
I'd be surprised if CC had more than six topics a year about password managers. I don't recall seeing much interest in the subject on other software-related forums, either.
I like your idea about the Excel spreadsheet - site/software registration requires that a lot of information be saved (Email addy's, pet's names, etc) in addition to the uname and password.

Very true - if a password manager serves the purpose then people will use it. If not then they will search out something else - it is really a clear cut yes-or-no decision.
As an aside, the spreadsheet in the Open Office suite provides similar functionality to Excel and is free. _________________ Never stop learning
