Every time I try to change my home page, Norton prevents me from doing so. When it asks for confirmation if I want to change it, I confirm that I want to change it, however my home page stays the same. How can I change my homepage without getting in the way? Any help is appreciated.

Hi jocumo. I have NIS 2006 so I hope this helps. Open your Norton Internet Security, click on options at the top, then click Norton Anti-Virus. Look on the left side with the 3 columns. Under the Internet section at the bottom is Home Page protection. uncheck the box at the top. Let us know if it works. _________________ Being sane is enough to drive anyone crazy.

Thank you very much for the response. I tried out what you said to do and, for some reason, its still not letting me change my home page.

Hi, even when I have these 3 boxes checked to turn on homepage protection and block all attempts to change homepage and alert me when my homepage loads (all of which are the page defaults) the Norton pop up/warning box comes up and I am able to change it by selecting change to:http//www.google.com (for example) I do notice also when I change it then click Home that It tends to hang and not load the page. I just close and re-open the browser. You also want to make sure that the boxes are checked just incase some nasty malware decides to take over your homepage. Are you using Internet Explorer? I take it you are since that is the only browser supported. Just out of curiosity, it would'nt happen to be a site blocked by Norton would it? In other words is it a safe site? _________________ Being sane is enough to drive anyone crazy.

Well, I'm trying to change the homepage for Internet Explorer. The site I want to change it to is gamespot.com. I don't see why it would be blocked.

I did a little searching on the symantec site. I did find something about running spysweeper 3.5 and older that it can keep your homepage from changing. I have a few free versions of anti-spyware programs that have the options to protect your homepage. It could be another program keeping your homepage alive. Thats all I know to help you. If that does not work one of the gurus should be around to help. Good luck, innerpeace _________________ Being sane is enough to drive anyone crazy.

Thanks for all the tips posted. It turned out to be spysweeper. I turned OFF the internet hijack option, changed the home page, and turned the hijack option back on.
Success!
