Which file are you trying to download the updater bin file or the full version? I suggest you download the full version from here:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5
and update using that rather then the bin file.
If that's what you were trying to do, then try it the other way by downloading the bin files from here:

Paul
I tried bins with no complete downloads
What I ended up doing was to stop all protection except for avg and then was able to get a complete download and install.
All systems now ok no spyware or malware detected .
Thanks for your help

Just so we can advise others with your information, what "protection" did you stop?
Some users may also have a problem if they have not updated Roxio CD Creator. An error/information window will be displayed when trying to install AVG 7.5. _________________

There is a note I saw about 7.5 upgrade that when running the installer to choose the " repair" option when installing over the previous version.
Run the AVG Free Edition 7.5 Setup program
Click "Next >" on the AVG "Welcome!" screen
Click "Accept" on the "License Agreement on Use of an AVG Free Edition" screen
Select "Repair installation" on the "Select Setup Type" screen and click "Next >"
Select "Restart the computer now" (pre-selected by the program automatically) and click "OK" on the "Installation Complete!" screen to restart your computer and complete the installation

Forgot about you being here
I have Roxio Creator but no error message from it
Downloaded driver but got message driver up to date. This is a new install from Dell with Roxio CD.
I stopped Zone alarm 6.5.737 ,Win Patrol 10.0 and Ypops 8.2 left spyware Blaster and avg 7.1 running. All the rest of my protection is on demand scanning
Thanks for the reply. Download and install went as expected from Grisoft software after stopping protection.

Hey,
I hate to sound like the novice I am, but the above mentioned setup file, is it named:avgas-setup-7.5.0.50.exe 7.5.0.50 ? And my AVG has already updated itself to 7.1. Do I need to wait on it to update itself again, or go ahead and download this file ? I tried to download the file : avg75free_430a828.exe , and got the same problem as some others, ie. the corrupt file message. I have tried this twice, with the same results. When I started to download the setup file, I didn't get a "Welcome" message, or an " Accept license agreement or anything. I am sort of confused now. Any suggestions? Thanks for any and all help.
Jonsie

The file you should be using is from:
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-virus-free
It is the one listed in the subject of this topic.
The avgas 7.5 you mentioned is the new avg anti-spyware program that replaces Ewido which was purchased by Grisoft.
Many others including myself have had to disable some of our protection such as Zone alarm to be able to get a good download.

Phill66,
Just an update. I went to the link you posted, which is the same as I was using. The only thing, I did different, was to "run" that file, rather than "save " it to open later. All is well now, all updated and ready to go. Thanks ever so much !!

Thanks ever so much !! | Thanks for that feedback. Running as opposed to saving may prove helpful to others who are experiencing this same problem. _________________ Microsoft MVP Consumer Security, 2004-2008
