Hi there.

I tried to uninstall avg anti virus from my pc but when i try i get an error message saying - nstaller initialization failed due to following error:
Error: Initialization of the language file "C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Free" failed.
General failure.

Avg doesn't even appear in the list of programs in "add or remove programs" yet the icons are still present and i can open it.

My OS is - wndows xp home sp 2

Thanks.

Hi. I'm new. I am running Windows ME. I am having the EXACT same problem. Embarassed I am trying to install Panda, but it will not let me because it says I have AVG. AVG is not in my "add and remove programs." I have looked through hidden files and ran Regedit. I deleted all I could find. I even reinstalled AVG and then uninstalled it, but that did not work! HELP!!!! PLEASE! Shocked My eyes are bugging out trying to fix this. I'm a little PC challenged, but trying my best. I ran CC Cleaner and I noticed it found it because it cleaned it. But I don't know where it was (the AVG.) Any advice would be greatly appreciately.

Navigate to the AVG installation folder: The default path is C:\program files\grisoft\avg free

Locate and run the setup.exe file. One of the options will be to uninstall AVG. Select that and make sure you check 'remove all user settings'.

If the folder doesn't exist, download the latest AVG package from http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5 and run it and select Uninstall from the setup wizard.

Thank you for your suggestions. Unfortunately, I have already tried them both. I cannot locate the file. I have downloaded AVG and then uninstalled it. That is not working. It is still there somewhere. My Panda anti-virus program refuses to install because it says AVG is on my system. I don't know where! I'm going crazy!!!! Panda says it's up to me to remove AVG and AVG will not help me. ARGH!!!!
