I started using AVG about 1 week ago. One thing that I am wondering is if there is a setting that I am not finding: I run my weekly scan in the middle of the night, like I suppose most people do. However, the next morning, there is no "scan results" window left on my desktop. (I'm calling it that for the lack of a better term; I hope that you understand what I mean.) My last AV program didn't leave one either, and there was no option to make it do so. Every week, I felt compelled to open the program and manually confirm that the scan actually did run. But perhaps AVG is different? Is there a setting that will leave a "results" window on the desktop after a scan? Thank you to all who take the time to reply.

You can look by opening the control center and going up to service and then looking at the history.

Doubleclick the AVG icon in your system tray (bottom right in XP). Click on the Test Center button. In the Test Center window, click on Results and then on Test Results at the top of the list. Here you can view all of the tests done so far and get any details you want.

I like AVG as it does the job with a minimum of fuss and uses less than 5 MB of resources. Thumbs Up

Thank you for the replies. I apologize that my question was poorly written. The methods that both of you suggest involve having to manually open the program and confirm that the scan actually ran. As I meant to state in my original post, this is what I am trying to avoid. I am wondering if there is a setting that will leave --automatically-- a window waiting for me on my desktop the next morning. Much like SpySweeper does, for example (if you happen to be familiar with that program). Thank you.

EDIT: I believe Spybot S&D does it, too. If you use its scheduled scan feature, and let it run a scan, a window will remain behind after the scan is finished showing you the results of the scan. This window will be there on your desktop, for you to review and then close yourself with the red "X" in the top right corner of the window.

This might work and it might not. Open the AVG main menu, click on scanner > settings. Under Reports, uncheck "Only if threats were found".

Like I said, may not work, but it won't hurt anything either.

Happy New Year!

mrsugg: I understand where you are going, but I must admit that I am unable to locate that setting. I'm not even sure which menu would be considered the "main" menu. I see a "Test Center", and a "Control Center". Neither one of them have an option named "scanner". I have explored the program itself, and am trying to find it in the manual, but I don't seem to be having any luck. Thank you.

This is AVG antivirus? Oh, Sorry rlprlp. Those instructions were for the antispyware application. I misread.

I don't use the antivirus app. Perhaps you could check their web site or help forums.
