ICON (welcome center) after uninstall - how to remove?

I unstalled some crappy programs from the Welcome Center, yet the icons (albeit skeletons) still remain. There is no "right click" to delete. Other than using the REGISTRY - is there another (safer) approach? ps: 30 day programs should not reside in the Welcome Center!
