When phpBB3 is released, will the site be upgraded to use the new software?

Sure looks enticing ... maybe worth a look as opposed to drupal? This would be bleeding edge of course.....

Better yet, switch to Vbulletin. Since Vbulletin is a paid script, its not as targetted by hackers as phpbb is. Also, there are hundreds of modifications available for it (far more then there are for phpbb). It's also easier to install modifications, as the latest version uses a plugin based system, and templates are stored in the database.

I've used phpbb in the past, and for the past 2 years ive used vBulletin. I would never go back to phpbb, that's how good vBulletin is.

http://www.vbulletin.com/features.php

Quote:

General Features

* Scalable solution - database server and web servers can reside on separate machines.
* MySQL back-end database
* vBulletin can be run on any machine that can support PHP and MySQL (Solaris, BSD, Linux, Windows, Mac)
* Written in PHP which makes for a fast and efficient product
* Admin Control Panel
* Moderator Control Panel
* User Control Panel

Oh and there is a importer available to import all data into vBulletin (posts, user accounts, forum info, private messages, etc. It's called IMPEX)
