sorry if this question has been answered before, i did do a search first but
am not finding my answer.
i am so frustrated right now i could throw this stupid computer out!
bought new pc with vista installed and have had nothing but problems. this latest one is that it looks like microsoft did the auto download thing to
upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit around august 29th??
all i know is that around the 29th i tried to go on IE7 and it wouldn't
display the webpage, i can't remember the error message. so then when i'm looking around after repeated tries, i looked under programs and it shows two versions of IE7- i try the 64 bit and it works! great! problem solved!
so i think this must have some sort of advantage if microsoft is having this new upgrade?? then i notice that Java and Flash and pictures aren't showing up on websites and that I can't watch videos on websites. i also have this constant ActiveX control come up but when you install it - it changes nothing. aargh! adobe's website says that "flash player is not supported in a 64 bit browser" why would microsoft make this an auto upgrade if it's not supported?
finally after about 2 weeks, i get so fed up with it cuz i'm trying to do my
first LightScribe and go to the website to see a demo to do it with and Lo
and Behold - i can't see it! so i call HP and they tell me to do a recovery
disk and take it back to 32 bit! well, i can't find my recovery disk right
now and not sure if i wanna go through all THAT trouble thinking microsoft
has gotta know they put out a crappy fix and that maybe, just maybe, they'll come out with a patch????
can anyone help me through this??
this stinks!!!!!!!!!!!

A workaround would be to view Flash web content with the 32-bit version of IE 7. See:

please forgive me for jumping the gun! i called microsoft and they fixed it.. i was just so ticked from calling HP and them tellling me to uninstall the 64 and go back to 32 bit.
around the 28th of august i couldnt log onto ie7, then looked and seen 2 diff versions of the ie, the 64 bit worked and the 32 didn't so i removed the 32 and that led to this problem.
the guy at microsoft had me do a search for "internet explorer" and it came up with two "ie7 for 64 bit" and one that just said "internet explorer" so i moved the one titled just "internet explorer" to my desktop and now that works fine with java and flash. it also fixed the problem i had with activeX.
i don't know why i had two different versions of IE7 in my Start>Programs, i thought it was just an auto update thing.
sorry i threw mud before i exhausted all resources but i thought i'd have to pay to call microsoft since that's what the support website looks like it means.
they were great and easy to understand, by the way.
*me looking sheepishly away but understanding that i need to correct myself since i was so willing to bash microsoft when it was my own dumb fault*
