Anybody? Anybody?
Why is Vista telling me I am NOT the Administrator when I am?
This problems happens with both premium (purchased and paid for) or free stuff.
I got over the hurdle where Vista was telling me that I had a counterfeit copy (why does Microsoft list that patch as "Recommended" when so many others are experiencing the same problem?)
Now it is the Administrator problem. Vista really really has some kinks in its code.
If someone can help -- Thanks -- ML (in agony)

Hi
Vista's "unique" user levels are a bit difficult to understand - It uses UAC (User Access Control) and administrators are given special privileges only when needed (installing software/drivers etc..)
Some programs that have compatibility problems with Vista need to be run by right-clicking on them and select the "Run as Administrator" option. That option will run that program regardless if he needs or not the special privileges. _________________ IT Stuff

Would this correct the problem? I don't have to enter the security privileges for each executable and each and every archived file to make them work.
Must I Uninstall and re-install every piece of software to get this straightened out?
If so, this is burdensome.
Thanks -- ML

I know that this post is old. The " run as admin" doesn't work most of the time anyway. On a fresh install of Vista home 64 bit I get the same problem. Nor can one see what is going on as so many processes are "access is denied". If one runs a virus scan and watches the progress window one finds that a high % of files also deny access, "run as admin" or not. I should ad that I am running a legal paid for version. This problem is serious.
