i have vistas x64 installed on my computer i have always had ccleaner on my computer and it has never caused me any problems, but that was with windows xp and vistas x32, when i installed vistas x64 of course i installed ccleaner, from habit i never back up the registary before i clean saving space i thought, when i ran it in x64 it cleaned but now my windows media player doesn't work, has a problem with the registary and according to microsoft help it can not be fixed and you can not uninstall media player and reinstall as it is intergrated in the operating system. this is just a post to warn others about the problem with the registary cleaners with x64 bit they think they can work on that system but they can not work safely so i was told by microsoft.
also if anyone knows how to fix the problem any help would be appreciated.

i agree that it was not the fault of the ccleaner but it still should not have deleted registry items that are vital for programs to work, it has never done that in previous versions of windows, i finally fixed the problem by running an upgrade with the installation cd and from now on i will back up my registry before i do any cleaning.!!

I've run CCleaner on my Vista system with no probs. SpyBot S&D's Tea Timer will promt one to allow or not allow registry changes. You just have to know which ones to allow & not to allow.

Just don't use CCleaner to often though. I usually clean my HD, et al before running CC. Also, CC & SpyBot has to be properly configedured for use on Vista OSes.
