hello.

i have a normal PC. on first disk (2 partitions), i have windows xp sp2. i just wanted to install Vista on my second disk (3 partitions, of course i selected one). i normally run xp and put Vista cd. all the proces went well, until the PC restarted.

while booting, i can choose two options:

    earlier version of windows
    windows setup

obviously i choose the second one, and all the proces goes on. i see this Microsoft green bar on the black background, and then... all disks turn off, and i see blue screen telling me about 'unknown hard error d0000144'. all i can do is to restart the PC.

i know that on this forum there are a couple of threads about d0000144, but none of them isn't related to Vista installation. that's why i'm posting this thread, not waiting for my HJT scan reviewing.

thanks in advance for help! Smile

It sounds like a hardware problem.... or possibly your hard drive
