i have installed Vista Ultimate on my PC, and everything is ok.
when i try to install my modem's driver, the instalator barfs and... everything i can do is to reset. however, after reset, vista boots up, and then i can see this:

Is your modem driver written specifically for Vista?
Is the modem even supported by Vista to begin with?
I continually ran into problems very similar when trying to *force* a Creative Soundblaster Live! to work with my computer in Vista - I ended up having to ditch it in order to preserve my Windows Vista install.
Also, a Google search brought up many links - most probably not applicable, but one or two might give you a clue.
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial&hs=vvQ&q=stop%3A+0x0000007e+vista&btnG=Search
Have you tried removing the modem from the system and seeing if Vista will boot without it installed? If so, then it is more than likely the modem causing the problem - and, from my experiences, there is a long, convoluted process to removing all traces of it from the system - at which point, if you're brave enough, you can re-install the modem and let Vista find the drivers itself.... _________________ <img src="http://www.castlecops.com/zx/johnlgalt/johnlgalt%20sig.png">

No, it's for all Windowses. But I know that those drivers should work on Vista without any problem.
THis it it - http://www.linuxcompatible.org/ZXDSL_852_USB_modem_c12791.html

but how Vista will find those drivers, if i don't have access to the Internet?!

1) That link you sent me is for Linux drivers, which is a completely different operating system from Windows.
2) In removing the modem, I meant *physically* removing the modem from your computer.
3) I did not realize that you needed the modem to access the internet. Are you using the same computer right now to access the Internet? I assume not, since you are having Blue Screen issues with the computer.
4) You are correct - remove those 'drivers' that you installed in Safe Mode and reboot - and then let Vista see if it can install any drivers that are 'compatible' - as long as it works in Vista and you can get on the net, wait until you find drivers *SPECIFIC* for Vista.
over 50% of Device drivers written for other versions of Windows will *not* work in Vista - that was one of the biggest complaints from the hardware manufacturers and Beta testers before Vista was released. _________________ <img src="http://www.castlecops.com/zx/johnlgalt/johnlgalt%20sig.png">

1) I know it's a Linux-related website. I just wanted to give you some more details about my modem!
2) Yeah, it helped.
3) Yes, I use the same PC all the time. Just after turning the PC on, i can choose between XP and Vista. The problem occurs when i choose Vista.
4) Well, i did, but something messed up and... http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/3585/s6301416ed7.jpg i think that i removed everything related to the modem, but this window always pop ups when i click on setup icon.
BTW, those drives are for 100% for Vista. I called my ISP and they confirmed it.

1) OK, just making sure- I have no idea what your proficiency level is....
2) OK, this kinda ties in with #4 - with the modem removed from your system, you should be able to clear out your registry of all the stuff that got installed by the modem driver installer, *and* clear out all references in your device manager to the modem as well.
No offense, and if your ISP says it is the right drivers set for Vista, then you'll have to go with it, but the latest files on that disk are from feb of 07, and some files seem way too old to be Vista worthy (usbenum, application type, last file, to be exact). So, understand my concern that these drivers may not be for Vista specifically.
The following instructions will ask you more than once to grant privileges to the tasks that you are attempting to accomplish - If this comes up, click Accept / Yes / OK.
- OK, so boot up, again without the modem, and then go to Control Panel --> System and Maintenance --> System (or just hold the Win key and press [PAUSE/BREAK]
- click on Advanced settings in the left nav area
- Go to the Advanced tab and then click on the Environment Variables button
- Under the bottom box (System Variables) click the New button
- For Variable Name, type the following: devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices
- For Variable Value type: 1
- OK --> OK --> OK
- Now, from the same System Properties you opened the first time, click on Device Manager, again in the left hand nav area
- When Device Manager opens, click on view, than click on Show hidden devices.
Now, in your list, you should be able to find your modem somewhere, more than likely under modems (I don't have a modem on my machine so I am kinda of flying by the seat of my pants in this part) - make sure that the DSL modem is listed *AND GRAYED OUT* - that means it is a device that is not currently connected to the computer. You can also check this by Right clicking on your modem and selecting Properties - if on the resulting dialog, on the General Tab, it says "Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)" then all is good. Click Cancel - then right click the modem again and select Uninstall.
Note - there may be more than one entry, as I not only don't have a modem, I have never had a DSL modem before, so someone else can chime in here to give you specifics on that one.
If you want, when you get to the Device manager part, post screen shots if you are not sure of which one it (or they) is (are) and I will help you pick them out. _________________ <img src="http://www.castlecops.com/zx/johnlgalt/johnlgalt%20sig.png">

Sorry, wb, lost the track of this topic. You'll need to open all of those plus marks to see what each device has under it to find the modem.
Obviously, it is not going to be under disk drives, Processor, etc.... _________________ <img src="http://www.castlecops.com/zx/johnlgalt/johnlgalt%20sig.png">
