|
|
Hi, my new Dell laptop came with Vista and I've been trying to make the best of it. Having a problem, tho, with Outlook 2002, which I need in order to run a VERY IMPORTANT program, the ancient but wonderful Adobe PhotoDeluxe 2.2. When I click on Outlook, I receive an error message saying that Outlook needs Outlook Express in order to open and to obtain it from Internet Explorer downloads. Needless to say, OE is no longer available and I don't know if there's a way to transfer it from my old XP laptop to the new one. Am hoping someone here knows how to do that or can suggest a workaround for Outlook itself. (As to suggesting I dump PhotoDeluxe, I'd sooner cut off my right arm!)
Many thanks,
HC

what is the exact errror message? why do you need either Outlook or OE to run APD? Does it even work in Vista which it might not? Consider using Adobe PhotoElements (with your left arm)?

Your older software seems to be incompatible with Windows Vista. You will probably have to either upgrade your older software or replace your operating system with an older version compatible with your software.
Outlook Express will not work on Vista - it has been replaced by Windows Mail. There are some programs listed here that will make Windows Mail more like Outlook Express:

Hi and thanks to both of you for responding. I haven't been back here for a while because my computer was hijacked and I've been spending all my time in the Hijack Oh My! forum trying to get that resolved.
You're both right, tho. I've been attempting to hold on to a wonderful but outdated program. Will let it go and find something compatible with Vista.
Thanks for your input,
Jane
