Have Outlook Express and when it became buggy, installed Thunderbird. Now that I have resolved OE problems have reverted back to it but keep Thunderbird just in case I need again.

Lately I notice when I receive emails on OE with attachments they come in as Thunderbird Icon attacments. When I open them I am thrown into Thunderbird email window.

Everything works OK but am curious as to why this occurs. Why don't the attachments open up in Outlook Exp. instead of in Thunderbird?

Just wondering - is OE your default email client?

Close OE and Thunderbird. Go to Start, Control Panel, Internet Options. On the Programs tab make sure Outlook Express is selected for 'E-mail:' and click OK.

As a further check, open OE and go to Tools, Options. On the General tab look in the 'Default Messaging Programs' section at the bottom. Where it says 'This application is the default mail handler', the 'Make Default' button should be greyed out. If not then click it, click Apply then OK.

Test it by sending yourself a message with an attachment.

Have checked both sections:

Internet Options has Email as Outlook Express
Default Mess. Pro. is already greyed out.

Will check on Thunderbird site in FAQ to see what I might find.

Have not found any thing else to push, pull, click on OE to remedy same. So will check Thunderbird email program I have to see what might be checked, unchecked there.

Will report back.
