hello, I have a netgear router (not sure on model name, but can find if needed) which i use WPA on for my wireless network.

yesterday i was connected and my signal strength fluctuated (nothing new) and obviously disconnected as I had an xp notification bubble come up saying

wireless connection (myNetworkName) (unsecured)
signal strength :low
status connected

so, seeing this i quickly went to network connections and saw that it said myNetworkName was running wpa and had the padlock..I checked on my router and it was still set to wpa...so I'm left wondering if I am secure or not!

any ideas?? it can't turn wpa off/on by itself can it?

thanks

Were you still able to connect to network even though it stated it was unsecure?

Poor signal can misinterpret network type and probably not connect you properly. It may display that you are connected to a network but you won't be able to navigate.

Suggest making your signal stronger somehow, possibly by repositioning antenna/router.

tbh i don't know as the notification bubble only stayed on screen a second or so and whenever i looked in the 'choose a wireless network' screen, it said security enabled..

thanks though..sorry for the delay answering
