I am responsible for multiple laptops at my job. I have to make sure they stay on. Seems like an easy task right? I change the power options to always on. I set the laptop lid settings to do nothing. I disable hibernation. I noticed that some of them go into standby. I started logging in with the local machine profile and changing the settings. Then I log into the machine with network admin profile and the settings are slightly different, the laptop lid settings are to go to standby. Even after changing both, they still tend to revert at times. Is there some sort of registry entry that I can change so that no matter what profile I use, or what the network settings, the laptops will be forced to stay on?

Have you looked at the bios power settings? They usually need to be modified to keep laptops running full time.

I took a look. The only pertinant setting seemed to be the wake on LAN setting. I turned it on. We'll see what happens. Thanks.

I have come to a preliminary conclusion. I probably shouldn't have posted in the first place Embarassed . Initially, I was using either the local or admin profile individually to set the power settings. I was wondering why the laptops would still turn off. That's when I tried using one and then the other to set them. I haven't had any turn off on me (yet). I did use the bios wake on LAN setting for a few, and I think that will help if they go into standby and I try to connect remotely. If the power settings stay in place, they shouldn't go into standby but it couldn't hurt. I am still a little confused as to why I would have to use two different profiles to apply the settings in the first place. Do the two sets of settings usually conflict? Are there any other examples of this? Question I don't mean to turn this from a troubleshoot to a school lesson, but I'd appreciate any feedback.
