|
|
I have removed Vista, reformatted and installed XP pro on my new HP Pavillion a6200n, but am missing lots of drivers. The HP site is only offering drivers for Vista and they say I need the chipset drivers for XP. I can't find these on the Microsoft site. I am wondering, if I copy all the drivers from my existing HP Computer with XP Media edition and install them on the new one, will this work? Or easier yet, how can I get all the missing drivers? Having no Network drive is a bummer! I would try Vista, but my $600 printer doesn't work with it and they are not going to make my scanner (which works just fine) compatible. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I give up. HP will not give me the necessary drivers for this model of computer to run XP and I am not proficient enough to try finding and installing all that I need. I did get the drivers for my printer, but lose my scanner as they have no intention of up-dating it. I am sure I will have lots of questions in the Vista Forum! Thanks to all who looked at my post.

Sorry that you did not get a response to your question, Larry. I understand your frustration with the unsupported legacy hardware as I still have to maintain a Win9x platform to get full functionality with two of my image scanners that didn't make the XP cut. _________________

When this was still a Windows box I had absolutely no intention of ever "upgrading" to Vista, especially with XPSP3 coming out and MS saying they would support it until, like, 2010 or something?
Then I decided to take the plunge and converted to Linux (Ubuntu 7.10). Linux has a long way to go, but being free of Microsoft makes it all worth it. _________________ Perhaps the real difference between the Jedi and the Sith lies only in their orientation; a Jedi gains power through understanding, and a Sith gains understanding through power. -Darth Sidious

Have you tried installing XP with SP2 slipstreamed? That might have all the drivers you need for your computer. _________________ Cheers!
