Hi Everyone

i hope someone can help, i have downloaded a trial of the new Internet security suite, and before i decide to purchase it i would like to set it so that it scans my incoming gmail uisng thunderbird, in thunderbird i have seperate accounts for my orange e-mail and my gmail, now avg scans the orange e-mail no problem, but no matter what settings i try i cant get it to scan gmail, i keep ending up getting a message from thunderbird along the lines that 127.0.0.1 did not respond, i have tried the settings found here

Please select "SSL" instead of "SSL default" for both servers (POP3 and SMTP) in AVG advanced settings.

For SMTP server in AVG advanced settings please set fixed host to "smtp.googlemail.com:465" instead of "smtp.googlemail.com:587".

My account on gmail works well with these settings.

i had been messing about for hours trying to get it to work and within 2 mins of seeing your reply i was up and running, what more can i say except i am still waiting to hear back from AVG Technical about it, so im glad i came across this forum
