Hi!

I've noticed that my computer is always transmitting data over the internet to an unknown source. The "sent packets" indicator in my "wireless network connection status" dialog box is always increasing with about 3 packets per second even if I am not doing anything internetrelated and have shut down all browsers and other internetprograms. Is this some form of spyware? I've also noticed a slight decrease in internet speed. I'm using ESET NOD32 as a virusscanner and zonealarm as firewall and either of them can find any viruses or spyware. I've also tried with Ad-Aware and spybot search and destroy.

Heres my Hijackthis log:

Hi,

Please uninstall ZoneAlarm Spyblocker by going to Start > Control Panel and double clicking on Add/Remove Programs.

Here's why - http://securitygarden.blogspot.com/2007/12/beware-of-zonealarm.html

Note: You may have to re-install ZoneAlarm firewall after uninstalling ZoneAlarm Spyblocker.

  1. Please download Deckard's System Scanner from Tech Support Forum and save it to your desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
  2. Save all your work and close all opened programs.
  3. Double click on dss.exe to run it. Follow the prompts.
  4. When the scan is complete, two log files will be produced. The first one, main.txt, will be maximized, the second one, extra.txt, will be minimized.
  5. Please post the contents of the 2 log files in your next reply. 1 log per reply please.

Hi! Thanks for the quick answer. The reason that I didn't reply immediately was that I was out of town for a while without a computer (oh, the pain!) Anyway, here's my dss main log:

Hi,

Are you aware that using Marsu-Fix is illegal?

No, what does it do? When I googled it the results showed it was some kind of malware. We are several people using this computer and a friend of my son has done most of the installing. Should I remove it?

Hi,

Marsu-Fix extends the number of days you could use NOD32 Antivirus trial. By default, the trial is 30 days. Marsu-Fix extends that by quite long.

Yes, please remove Marsu-Fix by clicking on Start > Control Panel and double clicking Add/Remove Programs. Removing Marsu-Fix may stop NOD32 from working properly. If that happens, you will need to remove ESET NOD32 Antivirus and install a free replacement.

Here are 2 free ones:

avast! 4 Home Edition
AntiVir Free Edition

In addition, please uninstall BitLord 1.1.

According to Castlecops' P2P Programs Policy, all P2P programs needs to be removed before we can continue helping.

After you've completed the above steps, please run Deckard's System Scanner again and post back the log.

Hi! Thanks for helping me obtain a legal anti-virus program. I also removed Bitlord

Dss only gave me one log, main.txt, this time. Extra.txt didn't show up so i'm only posting main.txt
