|
|
I created a real mess on my machine. I downloaded Setup_ver1.187.2.exe. It loaded quite a bit of junk on my machine. I've tried a lot of stuff, but to no avail. Now when it boots, CA detects virus' and then Blue Screens...even in Safe Mode. I've removed P2P and other things I thought shouldn't be there. Here is my HiJack This. Hope you can help!
BTW...I'm running Hijack This is Safe Mode. The machine won't stay up long enough to run it when booted.

Hi! Welcome to the forums.
My name is Scotty. I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. HijackThis logs can take a while to research.
Please be patient as my posts to you have to be checked before I reply, so they make take longer.
Please make a uninstall list using HijackThis
To access the Uninstall Manager you would do the following:
1. Start HijackThis
2. Click on the Config button
3. Click on the Misc Tools button
4. Click on the Open Uninstall Manager button.
5. Click on the Save list... button and specify where you would like to save this file. When you press Save button a notepad will open with the contents of that file. Simply copy and paste the contents of that notepad here in a reply.

Hi
I had a very similar problem last week during a little test on my pc. This got back into Normal Mode.
Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.
- Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
- At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
- If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
- Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
- When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
- Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
- When completed, a log will open in Notepad. Please save it to a convenient location.
- The log can also be found here:
C:\Documents and Settings\Craig\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt
- Post that log back here.
Once you are back in Normal Mode run this.
Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
- Close all applications and windows.
- Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
- For Vista users, right-click DSS and select Run As Administrator
- When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
- Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt in your next reply along with the MBAM report

Scottie,
I'm glad that you're familiar with this problem. I felt so stupid "letting" it happen. As soon as I double clicked on the .exe that caused all this mess, I knew I'd done wrong (I assumed CA would stop anyting bad from happening. Oh, what a silly thought!). Then when I couldn't even clean the junk off in Safe Mode without Blue Screening, I knew I was in big trouble.
I have to admit that Malwarebytes' has it acting much better. Not all better, but much better. I use CA for Virus etc. (it's free from my ISP) and it's still cranking about malware. Anyway, let me know what the logs tell you.
Again, many thanks again and to Prince_Serendip too!

Hi
Did you do anything other than what I posted previously?
- Click START then RUN
- Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK.
Note the space between the x and the /u, it needs to be there.
Run HijackThis, select Do a system scan only and place checks against the following entries (if they are still present):
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.freshpornmpegs.com/ to verify your age, REQUIRED! WARNING! Adult pictures are featured in this site. Only adults permitted beyond this point! Are you at least 18 years old
WITH ALL OTHER WINDOWS CLOSED Click on Fix Checked exit HijackThis and reboot.
Lets run an F-Secure online scan it will scan for Viruses, Spyware and RootKits:
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Start Scanning button. A window will pop up.
- Allow the Active X control to be installed on your computer, then click the Accept button
- Click Full System Scan and allow the components to download and the scan to complete.
- If malware is found, check Submit samples to F-Secure then select Automatic cleaning
- When cleaning has finished, click Show report (this will open an Internet Explorer window containing the report)
Highlight and Copy (CTRL + C) the complete report, and Paste (CTRL + V) in a new reply to this post
If Automatic cleaning with Submit samples hangs, click Cancel, then New Scan
- When the cleaning option is presented, Uncheck Submit samples to F-Secure
- Click Automatic cleaning
- When cleaning has finished, click Show report (this will open an Internet Explorer window containing the report)
- Highlight and Copy (CTRL + C) the complete report, and Paste (CTRL + V) in a new reply to this post.
Note: This scan will only work with Internet Explorer.
You must be logged on a administrator rights to run this scan.
The scan may take a few hours.
Also post back a new HijackThis log, and let me know what problems you are still having.

Ok, I ran the combofix and it uninstalled as indicated.
Used Hijackthis and pulled out the porn thing.
F-Secure won't run regardless of what I do. I've disabled my Firewall, allowed Active X, Java, Scripting, changed security levels, and it won't go.
Here's the HijackThis log.
You asked if I did "anything other than what you previously posted". CA keeps trying to run, so I let it do it's thing, but I don't think it actually fixed or removed any malware. That's pretty much it. Why are things worse or better than you would have anticipated?
