I have been working on getting all my spy-ware off and now it's all cleared off. But I have been having a problem getting it to shut down or restart.

I will click the restart button through the start menu and it will make a sound like it will shutdown and then nothing happens. The screen will stay on like I didn't tell it to restart.

The only way I can restart is if I unplug the tower, or if I use Alt-Control Delete and then Shut Down > Switch User. And then once I'm on that page I can click the shut down button.

Edit: So I finally got it to restart. First a box popped up saying its shutting a program down (The box said "End Program: TRSDKd ww. c:\client\bin\tgcmd.exe"). It told me it couldn't shut the program down and so I clicked OK and then it restarted.

ALSO, all the icons by the clock show up, but if I hoover the mouse over them they will close (I don't know the exact ones, but it seems like it's Norton Anti-Virus, and AIM) <-- so apparently this only happens after I've tried to shut things down...

If anyone could help me out I'd be SO grateful.

I'm using Windows XP. Edit: I looked into this a bit more and it turns out this file should be on my computer (I have a SONY VAIO). But I'm sure this isn't what supposed to happen.

Those didn't seem to help. Sad

OK this is odd. Sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't.

i think i have an idea whats going on - i have come across another XP machine doing the same thing and while i have not had a chance to try this fix myself i am fairly sure it'll work: uninstall the SUN java program installed (possibly a HP printer driver interface program). alternatively if you dont want to uninstall it, one of the links below (from HP I think) suggest downloading the latest java drivers.

i found this info in the following locations in case you are interested:

good luck!

I tried that, but nothing helped. I think it's because in my case it's an error with ww. c:\client\bin\tgcmd.exe

the only temporary solution that i know of is to hold the On/Off button on your computer for about 5 seconds and it'll turn off.

Take a look at this from WinPatrol.

TGCMD.EXE

TGCMD.EXE is spyware originally created by Tioga/Support.com. If you're an @Home subscriber, this was probably installed with your Comcast @home software. If you own a Sony Vaio system, it was probably factory installed along with the Sony Support software.

Read more at the link provided.

Hope this helps.

Here is another link to a program that may help you shutdown and reboot if you have probs...

Shutdown
