I have a computer here which is acting very strangely. The owner is having trouble setting up a dialup internet connection, they brought it to me and I find that even though Windows (9Cool is recognizing the modem, dialup networking is not. I go to create a new connection and it tels me that no modem has been found. I also checked it through hyperterminal and found the same results. At first I thought this was a problem with the modem itself and I tried it with an external modem and found the same results. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the modem, reinstalling the updated version of dialup networking (1.3 I believe) and I've also run a virus scan which to date has come up clean, anyone else have any ideas on how to fix this. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi BBoucher,
What version of Windows? Is the modem OK in the Device manager? What com port is the modem set up to use and is there any conflict here?

I haven't worked on a modem in a long time but I will see what I can do.

ZZ

Thanks for your response but the modem issue has been resolved. Unfortunately in this particular case we tried using multiple modems on different ports and recieved te same result. It was recognized by windows but not by dialup networking when we try to create the connection. The system needed to be re-os'd in order for the dialup networking to work properly. By the way it was a 98 machine

thanks for the help anyway
