A long few days. Thanks for your repsonse of Nov. 18, I guess I had more problems than I realized. I started running the lspfix utility, my system rebooted and I arrived at a Administrator login for XP that I could not get around. My solution was to install a new "master" hardrive and set the old one up as a slave. On my new system I have executed SpyBot and Ad-Aware and, after a few days of frustration, all's well that ends well and data is recovered.

I do not see anything there, or in my instructions, that would have caused this issue. You did have a load of nasties there though.
