We'd need more details about your setup to help sort this out. _________________ Microsoft MVP 2005-2008, Consumer Security

The problem is that my computer cannot connect to the router which is downstairs, I have a wireless desktop card installed
Now it was working fine on mine before the other belkin routers plug fuse blew
The router is downstairs with the main PC, we are using a belkin router, the downstairs computer connects fine, no problems
What we have tried so far is un-installing the wireless desktop card on mine upstairs and re-installing, and re-installing the whole thing on mine really
the network we connect to is there, its just mine will not connect to it anymore, its just as if its not picking up the signal
How many computers on the network?
2 desktops
What kind of router?
Belkin router, im dont know the series of it or whatever
what kind of network card in the PC?
Yes wireless desktop card
Are you getting any error messages?
It just says wireless network unavailable when i try to connect to it,
the network name is there with the green icon to the left of it, but no signal lines coming from it as it had before.
Can you login to the router?
yes i can login to it

Its very very very annoying now, now the downstairs computer wont connect to the router and its needed for work, only 1 green light is on, nothing else.
Belkin routers are kinda beginning to suck!

Hi, sorry I didn't get back here sooner. Did you check the configuration of the wireless card in the laptop? Maybe that's the problem.
Check the TCT/IP properties and make sure the default gateway and subnet mask match the rest of the network. And that the laptop has a different IP address from the other computers on the network.
Your problem is probably beyond my level of knowledge. You can try the wireless networking forum at DSLReports.com. It's a busy forum with a lot of very knowledgeble people.

Sorry I can't help more. _________________ Microsoft MVP 2005-2008, Consumer Security

You aren't using the MAC address filtering or any type of encryption on the router are you? Maybe you could try to reset the router back it's factory settings. There should be a reset button on the back of the router. On my Blekin you push the button once to reset. For factory reset you push the button in and hold it for five seconds. To check the signal strength for your upstairs computer you could download "netstumbler" and see of it can see your router's signal.
